๐Ÿšจ NEW MA Law Alert: Eviction Moratorium for Federal Workers ๐Ÿ›๏ธMassachusetts Gov. Maura Healey has signed new legislation, effective immediately, imposing an eviction moratorium on impacted federal workers during a government shutdown and for 30 days after.Who is impacted? MA residents required to work without pay during a shutdown (incl. active-duty military, National Guard, and reservists). What it does: Prohibits an eviction judgment against these workers. Key Requirement: The worker must provide their landlord with notice and documentation of significant financial impact due to the shutdown.Important: This does NOT relieve the tenant from their obligation to pay rent, nor does it restrict a landlord's ability to recover rent later. ๐Ÿ’ธThis bill (H.4761) was passed overwhelmingly by the Legislature (Senate 38-0, House 149-9).The Greater Boston Real Estate Board suggested an expedited RAFT process instead, but the Legislature chose the moratorium.๐Ÿ”— For full details, see H.4761, Amendment 54:malegislature.gov/Bills/194/H4761Questions?
